Jaro Varga

Jaro Varga completed his master's and doctoral studies at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, and the School of the Arts in Pennsylvania. In 2024, he habilitated (doc.) at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, Poland. In 2010 and 2008, he was a finalist for the Oskar Čepan Award, in 2015 he was the winner of the Tatrabanka Award for art under 35, and in 2017 he was the winner of the NOVUM Foundation Award. In 2024, he was nominated for the Elena Lacková Award for significant positive change in Slovak society. He has exhibited at home and abroad - SNG in Bratislava, NG in Prague, Prague Biennale 6, Futura in Prague, Kunstraum Kreuzberg in Berlin, ZKU in Berlin, Secession in Vienna, Triangle Arts Association in New York, National Museum of Contemporary Art in Seoul, The 8th Floor Gallery in New York, and the City Gallery in Gdańsk. He has completed residencies in Vienna, Berlin, Warsaw, New York, Seoul, Krems, Prague, and other cities.
