Pavel Příkaský

Pavel Příkaský (* 1985) is primarily a painter, but he constantly transcends the medium of painting. In his exhibition projects, contemporary environmental themes are combined with archaic and mythological aspects, often drawing on the world of contemporary science. One of the central themes of Příkaské's paintings is fluidity, which manifests itself not only in the painting, but also in the intermingling of animal or hybrid beings with flat abstract structures. He perceives painting as a living process, which sometimes spills over from the paintings into the surrounding space, either through purely painterly interventions on the walls of the gallery, or in the form of waxes, voluminous gels or textiles. Textile fibers often connect and "nourish" the paintings, or they shoot from the canvas onto the gallery floor as streams of color. In addition to independent work, since 2013 Příkaský often works in collaboration with multimedia artist Miroslava Večeřová. The works of Pavel Příkaský are represented in a number of private and state collections.
